Ukraine: journalist Arman Soldin killed
Soldin is the 14th media worker killed since Russia invaded Ukraine.
The National Union of Journalists has joined the International and European Federations of Journalists in condemning a shelling attack that killed journalist Arman Soldin in Chasiv Yar, eastern Ukraine.
Soldin had been living in Ukraine since September 2022, leading an Agence France Presse (AFP) video team’s coverage of the conflict. Four colleagues he was with survived the attack.
Sergiy Tomilenko, president of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, has called for Russia to be punished for the second murder of a journalist in a fortnight.
Dominique Pradalié, IFJ president, said:
"Today our thoughts are with Arman’s family and friends. No journalist should ever be targeted for doing their job and covering a war is no excuse for that. Today is another sad day for the journalism community. We demand justice for the killing of Arman."
