NUJ joins 25 unions calling for safe passage

The union has signed an open letter urging government to adopt a new Safe Passage policy as part of its Illegal Migration Bill.

The National Union of Journalists has joined trade unions seeking action from government to ensure the safety of people crossing the English Channel.

Unions have called for:

  • the government to adopt the Safe Passage Policy as the solution to the Channel crossings
  • the dismantling of the hostile environment for refugees and its replacement with an asylum system based on humanity
  • workers in the UK and refugees to stand shoulder to shoulder in solidarity with one another in the fight for a better future for all

NUJ members can write to their MP, seeking their support on amendment NC10.
