NUJ hosts exhibition honouring Dom Phillips and Bruno Pereira

  • 05 Jan 2023

From 18-20 January, the union will hold a free in-person exhibition in London open to NUJ members and the wider public.

NUJ members and the public can learn more about the work of journalist Dom Phillips and indigenous expert Bruno Pereira, killed in June 2022 while undertaking research to inform Phillips' book, 'How to Save the Amazon.'

The exhibition will explore the impact of illegal mining, logging and climate change on the Amazon and indigenous peoples. It also suggests action we can take to positively impact the Amazon, and showcases hopeful solutions for the rainforest.

Book a free exhibition ticket.

On 19 January, the union will hold an evening event with exhibition organiser Fiona Frank from Halton Mill and Domonique Davies, Dom Phillips' niece and exhibition co-creator. Other speakers include Dr Jamille Pinheiro Dias, lecturer in environmental humanities at the School of Advanced Study (University of London) and Jim Boumelha, chair of the NUJ's policy committee.

In attendance will be Alison Cahn from Halton Mill, also a consultant at Lancaster Uni Environment Centre and involved in the exhibition.

The event will be chaired by Michelle Stanistreet, NUJ general secretary. Spaces are limited for the event, register a free place .

Venue: National Union of Journalists, Headland House, 72 Acton Street, London WC1X 9NB
