NUJ Guardian and Observer chapel stands in solidarity with BBC Local journalists
The chapel has sent a message of support to journalists taking strike action over BBC local radio cuts.
The Guardian and Observer chapel would like to extend their support and solidarity to the BBC local journalists who are going on strike tomorrow over cuts to local radio services.
We share the NUJ’s view that the proposed cuts will “seriously diminish a service that is highly valued by listeners and underpins local democracy.” Following the weekend’s furore around Gary Lineker, confidence in the BBC is on shaky ground which calls into question why the jobs of journalists who have trust in communities across the country would be put at risk.
