DM2023: The Journalist magazine
Members will continue to receive The Journalist in a digital format as default.
Conference debated whether a shift was required to offer a print version of The Journalist as the default option for members. Paul Breedan, Bristol branch, said he hoped the motion was not controversial and that he wanted to highlight the role the magazine played in cementing the relationship between the union and its members.
Natasha Hirst, opposing the motion on behalf of the NEC, stated there were no plans to deny members access to the print version. She reminded delegates that members were able to choose at any time whether they wished to receive an online or print version and switching to a default print edition for all members would be hugely expensive with environmental impacts.
The motion was not carried, members will continue to receive The Journalist in a digital format as default.
