The union’s Newspaper and Agencies Industrial Council has called the move a ‘cynical attempt to undermine and destabilise staff.’

National World seeks to impose 4.5 per cent pay offer

The publisher has opened its annual pay talks with the offer of a below-inflation pay rise, adding that it will only negotiate on how the total pot is distributed in each area.

August date spells strike action across two Scottish newspaper groups 

Journalists working at two companies in Scotland, on titles including The Scotsman, Daily Record and Sunday Mail, will be taking strike action on Friday 26 August.
