The NUJ and its Black Members’ Council is hosting a free event celebrating the life and work of trailblazer Claudia Jones on 14 November from 6.30-8.30pm. Join us to mark the 20th year anniversary of the Claudia Jones Memorial Lecture at the Hallam Conference Centre in London, from 6.30-8.30pm.
Claudia Jones was a journalist, activist and campaigner - perhaps best known as one of the founding members of The Notting Hill Carnival and the first black newspaper, The West Indian Gazette and Afro-Asian Caribbean News, this remarkable black woman made a significant contribution to society.
Guest speaker and NUJ Member of Honour Gary Younge will address attendees on this special occasion. Tickets are free and all are welcome to this in-person event with free refreshments.
We hope to see you on 14 November as we remember Claudia's life and the continuing struggle for equality today.
